MARGAO: Konkan Railway Police on Saturday rescued a minor girl and arrested a 34-year-old man who was with her from the Railway Station at Margao. While the girl has been sent to women’s protective home the man is in jail.
Police disclosed that the girl claims to be pregnant but the medical report confirming it is still awaited. Apparently, the minor girl was married last year by her parents and the girl left her husband’s house and returned to her maternal house as she was having an affair with the 34-year-old Vijay Kumar Bind even before her marriage.
Vijay Bind along with the girl left their native place at Varanasi on Friday March 16 and arrived in Goa where they went to his relative’s house at Zuarinagar but as the girl was not happy in Goa they returned to the railway station yesterday evening to go back to their home town.
When they were seated at the platform, the KRC police found something was not right as the young girl was with a man who was much older to her. Therefore, when the police questioned them, the girl spilt the beans of her age and her affair with the man accompanying her.
Meanwhile, police also came to know about the missing complaint registered at Rohani Police station in Uttar Pradesh wherein the girl’s age is mentioned to be 19. However, as per her Aadhar card she completed 17 years on March 16, 2018.
Police Inspector Ram Asare disclosed that police from Varanasi are expected to arrive in Goa to take custody of the minor girl and as the police have already registered a case in the matter, they could not register another case and had to take Vijay in custody under Section 41 of the Indian Penal Code.
It is learnt that Bind’s brother is the Bharatiya Janata Party’s zilla committee president of the area and is reportedly flying down to Goa to take custody of his brother and is also bringing the UP police by air.
KRC police had kept the girl at Hospicio for observation last night and took her to the women’s protective home this morning. The medical report from Hospicio pertaining to her pregnancy is still awaited and is expected to be produced on Monday.
