The Chicalim youth befriended the girl in a bus

MARGAO: In yet another shocking incident of rape of a minor girl, a father of minor girl lodged a complaint with the Colva police alleging that her 11-year-old daughter was sexually abused by a youth from Chicalim, Sheldon Lobo.
In a swift action, Colva PI Uttam Raut Dessai placed the accused under arrest.
According to the police, Lobo, a bus conductor, befriended the victim who travelled by his bus to school. The accused is alleged to have taken the minor to a godown/store room at Colva and sexually abused the girl in the month of May and June last.
The incident came to light when the girl complained of pain in the stomach and was taken for a medical check-up.
Lobo has been charged under Section 376 IPC, Section 8 of Goa Children’s Act and section 4 of Protect of Children from Sexual Offence. Further investigation is being carried by the Colva PI Uttam Raut Dessai.
Meanwhile, one more person has been arrested in connection with the rape of the 15-year-old girl. During the course of investigation, the Colva police found that one Anil Pednekar (23), a resident of Panzorconne-Cuncolim, had also sexually abused the minor girl. Colva police arrested Pednekar on Thursday evening and booked him for rape.
The girl informed the police that Pednekar took her to Agonda, Canacona, on his motorcycle twice and sexually abused her.
Meanwhile, Andrean, who was the first arrest in the case, was produced before the JMFC court, Margao. He has been remanded to three days police custody.
In another case, the police late Wednesday evening arrested 23-year-old Mauvin Goes of Mazilwado, Benaulim, on charges of sexually abusing a 16-year-old girl.
He has been remanded to four days police custody.
The accused is alleged to have befriended the victim and taken her to a hotel at Colva where he gave her some water, containing an intoxicating substance, to drink. He later sexually abused her.
The mother of the victim filed a complaint on Wednesday after the daughter complained of pain. Suspecting something funny, the mother had questioned the daughter who confided. PI Sudiksha alias Rupa S Naik is investigating the case.
