Alemao informed that the reason for low pressure was due to the absence of inter-connection between the 300 mm JICA line and 200 mm dia line which supplies water to the areas. Inter-connection is needed and the work for the same will begin soon.

“It is not that there is no water to the areas but because of no inter-connection, the new pipeline, which earlier had high pressure and the old pipeline, it has reduced the pressure to the endpoint of the pipeline. There are numerous additions of tap connections to the pipeline which has reduced the pressure,” Alemao informed.

The pipeline gets 284 MLD of water of which 75 MLD goes to Verna village and the rest the PWD claims there is enough water for an area much larger than it serves.

Alemao also said that he has spoken to PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar and has ensured that the work of restoring the regular pressure to the deprived houses through inter-connection will be solved.
