MARGAO: Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco on Thursday demanded an investigation and punitive action against the alleged mismanagement in the accounts of the controversial Ruby Residency Cooperative Society.
He has alleged that the builder is involved in fraudulent acts to cheat the residents.

Reginaldo claimed that he has received messages from the residents of Ruby Residency Cooperative Housing Maintenance Society at Chaudi, Canacona.
“It is mentioned that one builder at Ruby Residency who along with his company Bharat Developer had assumed notoriety for human-made disaster because of the weak foundation and the poor quality of construction which led to the collapse of a building that had killed 31 poor labourers in January 2014. The aforesaid collapsed building had also crushed a sewage treatment plant (STP) that was serving 130 members of the Ruby Residency,” informed Reginaldo.
“It is given to understand, that in January 2018, the said disreputable builder who was absconding after the collapse from January 2014 until December 2017 has bulldozed himself in the managing committee as a member and emptied the Ruby Residency Maintenance Account of 2018-2019 to zero in four months with his wife assuming the role of a cheque signatory. The said director further requested members to pay totalling to Rs 25 Lakh in advance for 2019-2020 and has usurped that as well to rebuild the said collapsed sewage treatment plant,” alleged Reginaldo.
“The same director has now increased the Ruby Residency Cooperative Housing Maintenance Society Ltd charges by 75 per cent for instance the residents who were paying Rs 17,000 since 2016 till date is now being forced to pay for Rs 26,500 for 2021-22. While the earlier secretary had saved Rs 8 lakh from 25 lakh collected until December 2017 for three years. It is assumed the builder is using the money to illegally finance his other construction works,” alleged Reginaldo.
The Opposition MLA has requested the Cooperation Minister Govind Gawade to immediately get the matter investigated into the mismanagement of Ruby Residency Cooperative Housing Maintenance Society accounts as such fraudulent acts by the builder cheating its 130 residents many of whom are Goans is not at all acceptable in Goa renowned for its peacefulness and its calmness.
