VASCO: Mormugao Municipal Councillor, Tara Kerkar has objected to the transfer of a godown and three shops belonging to Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) to a person.

During the council meeting on Friday, when MMC Chairperson Fiola Rego placed four proposals of transferring the godown and three shops at Mukund Building, Kerkar demanded to know how MMC can transfer its premises.

Kerkar sought to know from Rego whether the beneficiary is the “blood relative” of the earlier lessee. “If not, the shops and the godown should not be transferred in his name,” stated Kerkar.

Rego said the issue was placed before the council and the council will forward it to the DMA for approval.
