MMC seals shop in New Market

The Margao Municipal Council on Monday sealed a shop in the New Market area of the city for undertaking internal changes without permission from the Civic body.
MMC Chairperson Savio Coutinho informed that the Civic body had issued a notice on the shop owner to stop the activity, but in vain. “We had issued the owner a notice to stop undertaking the internal changes. However, work continued inside the establishing in violation of rules and regulations”, Coutinho added.
Replying to a question, Coutinho said action against the establishment was initiated following complaint lodged by shop owners in the market.
MMC Chief Officer Y B Tawde ordered that the sealing of the premises following which Civic officials descended at the establishment and sealed the premises.
