MMC to confiscate tobacco products from November 20

VASCO: In an effort to make Vasco Tobacco and Plastic free city, the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) has made all arrangements to kick start drive to confiscate tobacco products and plastics bags from November 20. 
The Council has also made preparations to kick start a drive against traffic violations along with the Vasco traffic cell from same day. A public notice in this regards have been published in local newspapers by the council.
According to MMC Chief Officer Agnelo A Pereira, the council has already taken a resolution to make Vasco plastic and Tobacco free. He said that a team of municipal inspectors and staffs have been constituted to take up the drive against sale of tobacco and plastics from Monday.
“Our staffs are ready to start the drive from Monday. Though we wanted to start issuing challans to the violators found selling plastics or tobacco however since the department is yet to provide the challan book we have decided to start the drive and for few initial days we would only confiscate materials. Also during the same drive our team would also initiate actions against people found selling fish, vegetables or fruits” he said.
