Margao Congress Block Convener Savio Coutinho has demanded a detailed inquiry into the damage to a Margao Municipal Council vehicle that was reportedly vandalised after being used during the Ponda bye‑elections last month.
After learning that the Corolla Altis, formerly used by the MMC Chairperson, was found with a smashed windscreen and serious damage on the driver’s side, kept confined in the basement of the Mathany Saldanha Complex, Coutinho accompanied media persons for an inspection.

He alleged that the car was driven for unofficial purposes and damaged during an altercation at an unknown location.
Coutinho urged the District Collector and the MMC Chief Officer to file a police complaint, investigate the incident fully, and ensure the repair costs are not passed on to the public exchequer, regardless of which office is held liable.
