MARGAO: A Margao Municipal Council (MMC) worker sustained serious injuries during the tree cutting activity near the KTC bus stand. It is learnt that the MMC had not obtained permission from the Forest Department to undertake tree cutting.
The incident occurred when the MMC worker namely Manik, a middle-aged man, had climbed the tree near the KTC bus stand. The worker, who was holding the rope beneath the tree as a support, got pulled up by a falling branch and was thrown from a 10-metre height. The worker, a native of Belgaum, sustained head injuries and a leg fracture and is being treated in a hospital.
It may be recalled that the MMC had agreed before the Deputy Collector not to undertake tree cutting work without the permission from the Forest Department.
