MAPUSA: Aldona MLA Glen Ticlo has said that the urban tag would not be forced on the villagers of Moira and Aldona and that they are free to accept or reject it.
“Villages having more than 5000 population are declared as urban as per the 2011 census. Aldona and Moira are beautiful villages and I feel that they should remain as villages. If these villages get urban status, then, automatically all the things pertaining to urban will be implemented here. Huge buildings will come up,” Ticlo said.
“The gram sabha are yet to happen and once the gram sabhas are done, we will get to know the views of the people. Once we get to know what their opinion is, I will act accordingly and approach the chief Minister. People of Moira and Aldona villages are free to a take call whether they want urban status or not,” Ticlo added.
