Stressing that pollution-related issues cannot be ignored, Amonkar said the fight against the Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) and coal handling units would continue until the concerns of residents are fully addressed. He reiterated that the health and well-being of locals must take priority over commercial operations.

According to Amonkar, the company has assured the delegation that it will provide written commitments on corrective steps within the next 24 hours.

Residents of Mormugao and surrounding areas have repeatedly complained about air pollution and odour linked to coal operations, and the latest meeting is seen as a step towards pressing for accountability and concrete action.
