VASCO: An emergency meeting was convened on Thursday morning by the Mormugao Municipal Council Chairperson that was attended by the Chief Officer and mamlatdar. The meeting was about putting in place a system for the supplying of essential goods to the locals and giving permissions for volunteers.

Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) chairperson Nandadeep Raut urged locals from Vasco to obey the lockdown strictly and not to rush or gather in large numbers at one spot to buy essential commodities such as food items.
He also emphasised that the all should follow the system, which has been placed by the government machinery and to strictly follow social distancing as only then can the State can curb the spread of CoVID19.
“There is absolutely no need for the people to panic and roam around in the city,” claimed Raut, even though people from Vasco have been complaining about the lack of supply.
Reacting to the situation, former MMC chairperson Kritesh Gaunkar, on Thursday morning, added that during the lockdown, people had faced problems related to the supply of essential food items.
He also urged other councilors to act quickly. These statements were made before the State government announced on Thursday night that grocery stores supplying essential commodities will remain open 24/7.
