MARGAO: Margao police has arrested a youth from Moti Dongor, Anif Sheik, (20) for kidnapping and raping a minor girl from Margao.
The arrest followed a complaint lodged by the mother of the victim girl on late Tuesday night with the Margao police alleging that the accused on October 21 forcibly took her daughter when she was near Caro Corner, Margao and had forcible intercourse with the victim.
Both the victim and the accused were subjected to medical examination and the report is said to be pending. An offence under section 363, 376 IPC, section 8 of the Goa Children Act and section 4 of POSCO Act has been registered against the accused.
He has been remanded to seven days in police custody for further investigations. Margao PSI Melson Colaco is conducting further investigation in the case.
