South Goa Member of Parliament Viriato Fernandes on Tuesday launched a new state-of-the-art cardiac ambulance at Chicalim Hospital under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS), aiming to strengthen emergency healthcare response services in the region.
The advanced ambulance is equipped with critical cardiac care facilities designed to provide immediate medical assistance to heart patients during emergencies and while being transported to hospitals. The initiative is expected to significantly improve access to timely treatment, particularly for residents of Mormugao Taluka.

Speaking at the launch event, Capt Fernandes stressed the importance of strengthening healthcare infrastructure and ensuring faster emergency response services for citizens. He stated that the cardiac ambulance would serve patients across Mormugao by offering advanced life-saving support and improved pre-hospital medical care.
Officials and healthcare staff present at the event welcomed the initiative, stating that the addition of the specialised ambulance would help enhance emergency medical services in the area.
