MARGAO: Despite strong objections from the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of Perpetual Succour Convent High School, to the organisation of the Navelim Feast fair at the open ground located opposite the school, the Navelim panchayat has decided to grant a conditional NOC to the fair.

The PTA had earlier requested the District Collector and Navelim panchayat to issue a stay order on the feast fair to avoid hardships to the students who will be answering their SSC first term exams.
The feast of the Our Lady of Rosary Church, Navelim, will be celebrated on November 16 while the Goa Board SSC examinations are scheduled from November 10 to November 26 from 2 pm to 5 pm at the school, which is one of the sub-centres. In that regard, the panchayat convened a meeting on Wednesday to deliberate on the issue.
“At the meeting we have decided to give a conditional NOC to concerned owners of the private property to have the feast fair with the main condition that there be no activity between 2 to 5 pm when the exams are taking place at the school,” said Navelim Sarpanch Paul Pereira.
The panchayat also decided to write to the traffic police to supervise and monitor the smooth flow of traffic during the feast fair. Furthermore, the sopo collector engaged by the panchayat has been asked to monitor all the activities at the fair.
