PORVORIM: The road proceeding towards Hindu crematorium atop the Nerul hillock is in bad shape.
According to the locals, the road was tarred a few years ago and over the years, the tar on the road has been washed away and potholes have developed on the road. To make matters worse, there are no streetlights along this portion of the road, due to which motorists are facing difficulty.
When contacted, Nerul Sarpanch Piedade Almeida admitted that it becomes very difficult for the panchayat to take up any developmental works due to financial crunch.
“We have already requested PWD to repair the road leading towards the crematorium. The panchayat has also decided to renovate the crematorium and make sitting arrangement through the MPLAD fund. The administrative approval for Rs 27.66 lakh from the North Goa Collector has been issued,” informed Almeida.
