SANGUEM: The villagers of Netravali-Sanguem have bitterly complained of irregular drinking water supply to some parts of the village and have demanded a fixed time period for supplying water to the affected areas.
The locals accused the authorities of regulating drinking water supply in the village as per their whims and fancies. In the absence of specific time period, the people are compelled to stay at home as otherwise there is every chance of missing the water supply for the day, complained Amit Naik, a villager.

Naik informed that the village is supplied with drinking water from two tanks situated in Vargani and Savari wards. The water from Savari tank is supplied to Kasabwada, Patwada and Savari while the one at Vargani caters to the drinking water needs of residents of Marhawada, Gawaliwada and Matwada respectively.
Incidentally, the water supply from both the tanks located at a distance of around five kilometres is regulated by one person making it very difficult for the person to run at the two places at the same time to operate the pumps. The locals complained that this has compelled the department employee to release the water supply at his convenience which has led to people’s sufferings.
Naik urged the department to transfer the employees that are working in the village for a long time due to political affiliations and fail to carry out their duties sincerely.
The villagers have called for fixing the time with regards to the supply of drinking water to each of the wards to ensure that the people are not deprived of drinking water if the same is released at odd hours of the day.
