MARGAO: Panchas and sarpanchas from Sanvordem constituency have formed Sanvordem Progressive Front to fight the upcoming assembly elections by fielding a candidate from the constituency.
Briefing the press, Santosh Gaonkar, the president of the newly formed outfit, said that the people and leaders from various villages of Sanvordem have come together to take the constituency ahead.
“The development and peace in Sanvordem have vanished and treatment of the village representatives by the local MLA has been poor,” Gaonkar said.
The press briefing was attended by Deepak Prabhu Pauaskar (Kirlapal panch), Dabal, Vilas Desai, Stylex Bernard and Sandeep Prabhu Pauskar.
Explaining the purpose of forming a new outfit, Deepak Pauskar said, “We want to get elected a person who would serve the constituency with a sense of responsibility and work for its development.”
“We have 35 capable candidates in our front and we are open to any offer of support from other parties on a condition that one is fielded from Sanvordem,” Deepak said adding, “We are not going to support any person out of our front.”
