NGO Flags Lack of Transparency on NH 66 Cable Work, Raises Concerns Over Missing Project Details

The Goa Consumer Action Network (GOACAN) has raised concerns over the absence of mandatory information displays at ongoing underground cable-laying works along National Highway 66.

According to GOACAN, there are no signboards at the work sites indicating key details such as the name of the contractor, the stipulated timeline for completion, or emergency contact numbers. The organisation has expressed alarm over what it describes as negligence by the authorities in ensuring transparency in projects funded by public money.

Highlighting the issue, GOACAN stated that consumers have a fundamental right to be informed about public works, especially when it involves infrastructure development and expenditure from public funds. The absence of such information also raises concerns about accountability and the ability to monitor the quality and progress of the work.

The organisation has urged the concerned authorities to take immediate corrective measures by installing proper signages and ensuring that all necessary project details are made accessible to the public.
