MARGAO: Village Groups of Goa (VGG) has demanded a CBI inquiry into the death of Fr Bismark Dias. VGG strongly suspects foul play in his sudden demise and pointed out that Fr Bismarque had been a target of death threats.
VGG president Zarinha Da Cunha commended Fr Bismark’s work and love for Goa and demanded that no effort be spared to initiate a thorough CBI enquiry. The group also offered condolences to Fr Bismarque’s family and friends.
Meanwhile, Salcete activists, while holding a condolence meet for Fr Bismark at Lohia Maidan on Monday, alleged that Fr Bismarque was murdered and called it an act amounting to the killing of democracy. They lamented that there was no law and order in the State and that this was an attempt to stifle activists.
While offering condolences and support to Fr Bismarque’s family and friends, they demanded that the government conduct a thorough inquiry into the mysterious circumstances surrounding Fr Bismarque’s death and stated that they would not rest until the truth is out.
“We are going to submit a representation to the government asking for a thorough probe into the death of Fr Bismarque Dias. It is not a simple death. We strongly suspect foul play in it. Fr Dias had received threats a day prior to his death and a police complaint was filed at Old Goa Police Station by him,” said activist Jose Mario Miranda.
