PERNEM: PWD officials, engineers and the contractor on Friday inspected the Mauli Temple and its surrounding area in order to save the temple from demolition while widening the NH 17 at Porascadem.
During the inspection, senior Engineer Kamat, Assistant Engineer Philips, Junior Engineer Karpe and contractor measured the road and marked area to be used for widening the highway, which will safeguard the temple from demolition. The inspection was carried out as per the directions from Deputy Chief Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar and PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar.
It may be recalled that at a meeting held at Secretariat on Wednesday, Pernem residents had appealed to Ajgaonkar, Pauskar and NH officials to protect their temple at Porascadem from being demolished, while widening the NH 17.
