Nigerian injured in Sada jail clash

VASCO: A Nigerian was injured after two groups, local inmates and Nigerians, clashed inside the Sada Sub Jail on Sunday.

According to Mormugao PI Santosh Desai, two groups, local inmates and Nigerians, during their recreation time on Sunday morning assaulted each other inside the Sada Sub Jail.
Police said some argument broke out between the inmates, Santan Fernandes, Mauvin Fernandes, Snehal Dias and Wasim Khalidar, and Nigerians Abed Mukule, Jude Williams, Anthony Okaio and Victor Ubanoze.
PI Desai further informed that during the argument, one of the accused from the local group pushed Abed Mukule, who banged his face on the iron bars of the prison door and sustained injuries.
PI Desai said Mukule was rushed to Chicalim Cottage Hospital by the Jail officials. Mukule received three stitches on his lip and was sent back to the jail.
Police said both the groups have filed counter complaints with the officials of the sada Sub Jail. Mormugao police has registered an offence against both the groups and PI Santosh Desai is investigating the case.
