TIVIM: Mapusa Police on Monday arrested three more suspects in connection with the murder of a Nigerian at Lobowado-Parra on October 31. With these arrests, Mapusa Police has so far arrested nine persons in connection with the case.
Speaking to Herald, Mapusa PI Tushar Vernekar said Ashish Gaonkar, Sagar Naik and Rohan Palyekar were arrested at Duler Grounds, Mapusa, at about 1.45 pm. So far, nine people have been arrested in connection with the murder of Obado Uzoma Simeon.
It may be recalled that Mapusa Police late Saturday night arrested Sarvesh Govekar (23) of Arpora, after laying a trap for him at a house in Arpora.
Earlier, Mapusa Police had arrested the main suspect Omkar Palyekar, Surendra Pol from Arpora, Praveen Mandrekar from Assagao, Prajyot Dabholkar and Prayag Palyekar from Chapora.
It may be recalled that Obodo Uzama Simone was found murdered at Lobowado-Parra on October 31. The murder had sparked off protests by a large group of Nigerians in Parra and later riots in Porvorim, where a police hearse van was damaged and the national highway was blocked thrice near the O’Coqueiro restaurant in Porvorim during the day.
