PONDA: Residents of Nirankal-Ponda passed a resolution on Sunday to demand the shifting of all scrap yards from their locality to the industrial estate.
At the Gram Sabha, the residents reminded the panchayat that the government had initiated a scheme to arrange space in the industrial estates to relocate scrap yards from panchayat and municipal areas. They insisted that the government should implement this scheme at the earliest.
It was also decided that the next Gram Sabha should discuss and fix the necessary trade tax to shops owners, involved in business activities in the panchayat area.
Residents also voiced concern about a dangerous turn along the road at Bhutatali-Bethora which has led to a number of mishaps. Sarpanch Poonam Samant, who chaired the meeting, informed that the road work at Kumyerwada would commence shortly.
Samant took the opportunity to thank Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar for declaring 27 percent reservation to the Other Backward Classes (OBC).
