Though MGP and BJP have confirmed their candidates for the Shiroda Assembly by-elections, there is no reaction from Congress on whose ticket Subash Sirodkar had won the seat but joined the BJP some months back. However, the senior Congress workers in Shiroda helped the party president to unite workers in the constituency. Its supporters have held several meetings addressed by party president Girish Chodankar. There are several aspiring Congress candidates but so far the party has not declared any name to contest in Shiroda. According to sources, aspiring candidates in the race reportedly are Congress Block Shiroda president Sunil Sawkar, Bethora sarpanch Sushant Gaonkar, Hemant Samant, Manurai Naik and Dinesh Naik. Diya Shetkar, who joined Congress recently, is also trying her luck for the ticket. Former industries minister Mahadev Naik, who had won two times as a BJP candidate, is also in race along with ZP member and Jaydeep Shirodkar, who is the son of former Shiroda MLA Jaykrishna Shirodkar. Congress sources, however, say that neither Jaydeep nor Mahadev Naik has yet joined Congress.
