Parsekar was speaking after inaugurating the workshop on primary education at Porvorim. The workshop was organized by Goa Education Development Corporation in association with the Directorate of Education and Directorate of Official Languages.
Speaking further, Parsekar said, “What is required is to provide quality education at primary level. If primary education of good quality in mother tongue Konkani and Marathi is provided to the students, then the students will not find any difficulty in acquiring higher education.”
“In the past, required attention was not given to primary education. Time has now come to concentrate more on primary education than higher education. The Directorate of Education should inspect primary schools to ensure that the students are taught properly,” said Parsekar.
Goa Education Development Corporation Chairman Kanta Patneker said there are 1300 primary schools in Goa, where 98,724 students study. “If good quality education is provided to the primary students, then naturally more students will come to government primary schools.”
