VASCO: The Airport Authority of India (AAI) Dabolim Airport Director Gagan Malik, on Friday, said there is ‘no problem or threat to Goa International Airport regarding the outbreak of the Wuhan coronavirus.’
Referring to the recent outbreak of the coronavirus, Malik said, “There is no problem or threat to Goa airport. The airports, which are directly connected to China, Vietnam and Singapore may have problem.”
When asked if any advisory has been issued by the Airport authorities of Dabolim, Malik said, “We are not affected with the outbreak of the coronavirus and we are safe here.”
It might be recalled that an Indian nurse working at a hospital in Saudi Arabia tested positive for the novel coronavirus when she and nearly 100 of her Indian colleagues, mostly from Kerala, were screened, the Indian government said on Thursday.
Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan on Thursday said he had spoken to the Indian Consulate in Jeddah on the Indian nurses quarantined at Al-Hayat Hospital, Khamis Mushait, due to the coronavirus threat.
The Union health ministry has said 12,828 passengers from 60 flights have been screened for novel coronavirus infection till January 22 but no positive case has been detected in the country so far.
