PANJIM, JAN 18
Both the districts of Goa – North Goa and South Goa are set to get Central Bureau of Investigation courts. The State government has recently received direction from the central government to set up CBI courts in the State at the earliest, said a government officer who did not want to be named.
However, the number of CBI cases in Goa being less , the government has decided to designate two district Sessions Courts — Session Court of North Goa and Session Courts of South as CBI courts, said the officer.
In the absence of designated CBI Courts in the State the, CBI cases are currently heard by the Sessions Court .
The designated Special CBI courts in each of the district is expected to expedite hearing of CBI cases which otherwise take very long.
All the expenses of setting up CBI courts in the State will be borne by the Centre, he said.
