The four accused are Yogesh Khandeparkar (police constable), Manguesh Canconcar, Vikram Canconcar and Rikes Dias alias Shirodkar. All have been remanded in police custody for seven days.
“Though the complainant has said that eight people were involved, police investigation has revealed that these four are the only culprits. The victim was raped twice by the four accused,” Parsekar said adding, “but police are still looking out for more people involved in crime.”
The issue was raised by BJP MLA Vishnu Wagh during the Zero Hour, wherein he demanded stringent action against all the culprits.
The chief minister, tabling the complaint of the victim, informed the House that the woman (30) was in need of money for her ailing son. He said that the survivor is a widow, who lost her husband nine years ago and has three children.
Hailing from Belgum, the victim works as a house maid at Merces. “The lady came into contact with one Sameer, related to the house owner where the lady used to work. Who then gave her contact of Manguesh, who assured her to give money,” the chief minister said reading out the complaint.
Following objection from the opposition benches, the Speaker restricted the chief minister from spelling out the details of the complaint. “I assure the House that stringent action would be initiated against all the culprits,” he said.
According to police, the survivor was known to one of the accused and on his request she had accompanied him to the house of the accused Yogesh on July 29. A complaint was lodged by the survivor on July 31.
According to the complainant, all the eight accused raped her. The medical examination report has established that the woman was raped, informed police.
