MARGAO: The former agriculture minister Vijai Sardesai on Tuesday informed that in spite of the compulsion by NITI Aayog the government has done nothing to propagate contract farming in the State.
The Fatorda MLA under the “We For Fatorda” banner distributed free paddy seeds and manure to the farmers of Fatorda. 300 farmers of Agalli, Murida and Borda areas benefitted.

While commenting on the work of the government on the agriculture front Vijai said, “I can see that, whatever I have spoken as the Agriculture Minister is being spoken today. Only the person has changed and nothing new has happened. The Agriculture Minister is busy giving conversion for lands in spite of a court order against it.”
Vijai further charged that in spite of the Niti Aayog mandating the government to work on the front of contract farming still nothing has been done
“We For Fatorda will continue its endeavours towards making Fatorda self-sufficient through agriculture,” informed Vijai.
