A major fire has gutted a computer office and a laundry in two separate incidents in the city here since last night, destroying property worth over Rs three lakh.
In the first case, computers and other items were damaged in a fire in an office in the heart of the city on Saturday morning. Short circuit is suspected to be the cause behind the incident. Property worth Rs 2.65 lakh has been destroyed in the inferno, fire personnel stated.
Meanwhile, in another fire incident at Fatorda, the Sainath Power laundry was gutted late last night, destroying property worth over Rs 50,000.
The incident occurred at around 11.20 pm when smoke started billowing from the laundry. The fire personnel had a hard time in effecting entry into the premises and to break open the lock.
Suspected short circuit is believed to be the cause behind the fire accident.
