One held for stealing handicrafts

Verna Police on Saturday arrested a 32-year-old man on charges of stealing goods worth Rs 30,000 from a handicrafts shop at Utorda Beach.
According to Verna Police PI Jivba Dalvi, accused Joseph Mascarenhas entered in the shop and allegedly assaulted salesman Altaf Ahmed and stole handicrafts goods worth Rs 30,000 and fled from the site in his Maruti Esteem car (GA-08-U-1222).
PI Dalvi further informed that the accused assaulted complaint the salesman by trespassing in the shop and fled away with the valuables from the shop.
“Accused has been arrested under Sections 394 and 452 of IPC and police is investigating the case,” added PI Dalvi.
