Collem Police on Wednesday arrested a person from Castle Rock, Karnataka, in connection with the tipper theft case.
According to Collem Police PI Manoj Mardolkar, Bala Halgekar, who was involved in tipper theft case at Palsakata-Mollem, was absconding for the last three months.
It may be recalled that a truck, which was parked at Palaskata, was stolen by some persons from Goa and Karnataka on May 19.
Later, Collem Police arrested Prashant Narayan Matonkar, Adao Philip Lobo, Malikarjun Sonaulim and mechanics from Khanapur. All the accused were later released on bail.
Police further informed that Bala was absconding for the last three months and the police had kept surveillance at the residential place of the accused.
After getting the information about the accused, PSI Praveen Gauns, Head Constable Parshuram Patil and PCS Shankar Naik and Premanand Sawant rushed to the Bala’s residence on Wednesday at about 2.30 am and asserted the accused.
Bala was produced before JMFC Sanguem on Thursday and was remanded to five days police custody for further investigation.
PSI Praveen Guans is investigating the case under the supervision of PI Manoj Mardolkar.
