St Xavier’s HSS, Mapusa were victorious at the Higher Secondary Schools chess Zone 1 tournament organised by DSYA at Peddem complex on Thursday.
Xavier’s scored a total of 11 points from 4 matches and DM Kushe HSS, Assagao finished as runners-up after accumulating 10 points from 4 matches. Both teams have qualified for the inter-zonals.
Diksha Chavan, Roshan Nair, Amogh Kamalkar, Nihal Melwani and Shawn Pinto represented Xavier’s while Sandeep Redder, Dattaraj Nachinolkar, Siddesh Naik, Raj Verlekar and Akshay Joshi made up the DM Kushae line-up.
Xavier’s played against Government HS, Sanquelim, DM Kushe HSS, Assagao, Purushottan Walawalika, Khorlim and Shanta Durga, Bicholim.
DMs came up against Dr. Ambedkar, Colvale, St Xavier’s, Assagao, Hamal Panchkroshi and Purushottan Walawalkar.
