MARGAO: Four days after the Goa Board declared results of the SSC examination, online admissions to the Chowgule Higher Secondary School are yet to start, throwing up questions and confusion in the minds of students and teaching faculty alike.
With the office of the education department flooded with queries on admission to the secondary school, Deputy Director of Education, South Zone, Ramkrishna Samant, on Thursday intimated the office of the Education Director, apprising the government on the status of admissions.
When Herald contacted the Director of Education, Anil Powar, he said, “Let me tell you, the department is aware of the situation. We will wait for a day to initiate certain action against the higher secondary school”, Powar said, without disclosing the nature of action being contemplated.
The delay by the Chowgule Education Society to open admissions assumes significance and comes against the backdrop of last week’s meeting the management had with the CM wherein it was agreed to continue the school for the coming academic year.
Meanwhile, senior education officials don’t seem worried. “This year, an additional higher secondary school is being opened at the Loyola High School with one division, having an intake capacity of 52-55 students”, informed Samant.
He further said that the department has sanctioned an additional division for the Damodar Science HSS and Rosary HSS this year. “Opening of a new higher secondary school, besides additional divisions in the existing higher secondary schools will help tackle any situation compared to last year”, he sounded optimistic.
