MARGAO: Orixtt Porjecho Awaz (OPA) leaders, who were served summons for allegedly trying to destroy the peace in the State, have asked for copies of the allegations, while pointing out flaws in the summons and vowing to continue their protests against land grabs.
They have stated that they were fulfilling their constitutional duty of defending their land and environment, and to establish peace and security in the world. They further said, “It is our Defence Minister who is hell-bent on destroying the country’s environment, grabbing our common lands, escalating the arms race, and selling weapons that will kill thousands of innocent children and women, rather than building trust and friendship with other countries.”
“Goa’s Industries Minster has exposed the government’s lies by stating in the Assembly that GIDC has already given our common lands to the Defence Ministry permanently. Our government is not only a two-faced, U-turn specialist, but is reduced to an unscrupulous land broker today,” said Percy Pereira Fernandes, OPA president.
“Before the last elections, the present Defence Minister had visited our village and promised that he would return our lands to us if BJP is elected. Today he proved to be the biggest liar and traitor to the Goan cause. OPA asks the Collector, who believes that publicly stating that the land allocation is permanent amounts to a crime, whether he will now issue summons to the Chief Minister and Industries Minister,” added Freddy Agnelo Fernandes, OPA secretary.
OPA has also called upon Goans and peace-lovers of the world to join the peaceful agitation against Defexpo 2016.
“We strongly protest the tyranny of our elected government and resolve to continue to protect the lands and water sources that will give life to the future generations, and to stop the sale of arms and escalation of violence in the world,” said Fernandes.
