OPPOSITION MLA CARLOS FEREIRA WARNS FISHERIES MINISTRY OF LOSING JURISDICTION TO MORMUGAO PORT AUTHORITY

Oppositon MLA Carlos Fereira has warned the Fisheries Ministry of losing its jurisdiction of the coast and riverine land to the Mormugao Port Authority (MPA). He has urged the Fisheries Minister to define their own borders and then take up the repairs of the local fishing jetties.

While placing his demands on Fisheries and Nauxim Marina project MLA Fereira noted that that MPA now controls the waters. “MPT gave the NOC and signed the agreement with the marina promoters not Government of Goa. It is land that belongs to the Goa government and our government should have been the one”.

“You need to define your borders, otherwise you (Fisheries Minister) won’t have any work,” he said.

MLA Fereira has further demanded that after defining the borders the Ministry can take up the development of fishing jetties that are in precarious condition.
