The Panjim Smart City electric bus services resumed operations on Wednesday after drivers called off their strike following an assurance that their pending payments would be cleared by this evening.
All 48 drivers, who had failed to report for duty earlier, returned to work, restoring normal public transport services across the capital. The strike on Tuesday had brought the city’s Smart City bus operations to a halt, causing significant inconvenience to commuters.

According to sources, officials from the Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL) and the Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) held a meeting with the drivers and assured them that their salary dues will be settled without further delay.
The drivers expressed relief but urged authorities to ensure that such payment delays do not recur. “We have resumed duty in good faith after being assured that our salaries will be credited today,” one of the drivers said.
With services back on track, commuters welcomed the move, hoping for smoother and more reliable operations under the Smart City initiative going forward.
