A parasailing ride that went wrong was widely reported as having taken place in Goa, but the incident actually occurred in Malvan, Maharashtra. Bengaluru‑based nutritionist Sushmitha Gowrav described a near‑fatal fall during a parasailing outing in which she plunged into the sea and the rope tightened around her neck, writing that “1 minute of thrill, almost cost me everything.”
It was later clarified that the experience happened in Malvan, not Goa, though her posts initially led many to believe it was a Goa incident. The video has nonetheless sparked debate about safety standards and supervision during water sports in coastal tourist areas, with Gowrav urging travellers to verify locations, check safety protocols and trust their instincts before attempting such high‑risk activities.
