MARGAO: Villagers of Paroda at its gram sabha held on Sunday resolved to request the local MLA Rajan Naik to invite Chief Minister Manohar Parikar and the public works department minister Sudin Dhavlikar in the village panchayat to listen to their grievances.
Locals lamented that they were unable to express grievances to the chief minister during his recent visit in the village and resolved that the panchayat body approach the local MLA and request him to bring the two leaders in village so that villagers can met them and put their problems for expedite solution.
The gram sabha which was held under the chairmanship of Sarpanch Deepak Kharangate strongly opposed the airport at Mopa which they claimed was being allowed by destroying vast area of fields.
MARGAO: The Curtorim village gram sabha on Sunday resolved to demand that the panchayat withdraw the conditional NOC given for “coverage on wheels” to Vodafone on grounds it would create health hazard to the villagers.
Charles Barreto raised objection to provisional NOC given by the panchayat body to the company which was supported by the majority of villagers. The panchayat body had granted provisional NOC to Vodafone on condition that Vodafone should get necessary permission from the health deparment and department of science and technology before installing “coverage on wheels” at Novowado, Curtorim and collected an amount of Rs 25,000 as deposit towards the same. However the villagers on Sunday took a resolution to outright reject the same even if the company get permission from the respective departments.
Yet an other NOC for a temporary structure for workers and storing facilities for a project of government department granted by the panchayat body near Goa Oxygen Factory was objected by the gram sabha who demanded revocation.
Deputy sarpanch Joaquim Rodrigues pointed to gram sabha that PWD as well as electricity department have stalled development works in the Curtorim village. He further pointed that no pre-monsoon had been carried by PWD.
Members of gram sabha unanimously congratulated Maria Rebello daughter of soil for being appointed referee for prestigious football I-league. Resolutions were also taken allowing the panchayat body to disburse payment towards work carried under MGNRGA Scheme and for construction of Balwadi centers in Curtorim amounting over Rs 1 lakh and Rs 3.5 lakh respectively.
