MARGAO: “Shifting of school outside the city limits away from the crowd is need of the hour and in next five years all the schools from the five towns will be shifted outside the city limits,” Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said, on Sunday.
He was interacting with media persons in Margao after felicitating meritorious students of Mahila Nutan High School.
Elaborating on the topic, the chief minister, who is also the education minister, said, “The schools are located in the middle of town and the students are more prone to accidents. The schools will be shifted outside the city limits away from the crowd, where it will be easier for the government to provide common facilities such as playgrounds to these schools.”
The chief minister also said that the government may think of bending some rules in genuine cases where the grants are given for the structural development of schools to provide better facilities to students.
“Failure is the first step towards success,” said chief minister citing his own example that he was elected as an MLA on the fourth attempt, but “I did not lose hope,” he added.
He appealed to the parents to allow their children to pursue their education in the filed of their interest.
