Pedestrian crushed to death at Mapusa

An 18-year-old pedestrian from Uttar Pradesh (UP) but residing at Karaswada-Mapusa was crushed to death by a speeding bus near Kharaswada on Thursday at about 7.45 am.
According to Mapusa Police, Mohamad Amin, who was walking alongside the road at Kharaswada, was knocked down by a passenger bus (GA-O3-K-0423), which was proceeding from Pernem towards Mapusa.
Amin, who was employed at a nearby scrapyard, was killed on the spot, informed the police.
Mapusa Police conducted the panchanama and later sent the body to GMC Hospital at Bambolim for an autopsy.
Police registered an offence against bus driver, Raya Kashalker, from Pernem under Sections 279, 304 A of Indian Penal Code and arrested him.
However, he was later released on bail.
PSI C R Gawas is investigating the case.
It may be recalled that this is second fatal accident involving a bus in and around Mapusa within barely eight days.
On January 21, a school girl was killed on the spot after a bus knocked her down at Assagao.
