Comunidade Administrator Vishant Naik Gaunekar told the employees on Tuesday to resume duties in view of the letter received from the office of the district Collector, South terming the strike as illegal. The employees, however, refused to withdraw the strike saying that they have resorted to the protest only after following the procedure and by serving notice on the government.
“We have done no wrong by going on strike. Which government or private employee will sit quite if their salaries are not disbursed for four long months? We have been knocking the doors of the government to absorb us in other government departments, but in vain,” the employees said.
Meanwhile, the Goa Human Rights Commission has fixed hearing on February 16 the complaint filed by the beleaguered Communidade employees on the non-payment of salaries. The Commission has issued notices to the Revenue Secretary, South Goa district Collector and the Administrator of Communidades, South to attend the hearing on February 16.
