Pernem Woman Duped of 40g Gold Mangalsutra by Man Promising Healing Rituals

A 65-year-old woman from Kiranpani in Palyem village of Pernem was allegedly cheated of a 40-gram gold mangalsutra by a man who claimed he could cure her daughter’s illness through religious rituals.

The accused, identified as Santosh Malkar, reportedly convinced the woman to hand over her mangalsutra as part of the ritual process. According to the complaint, he placed the jewellery inside a tin container, claiming it was necessary for the ceremony.

However, the woman later discovered that the gold mangalsutra had been replaced with an empty tin. The accused allegedly fled the spot soon after carrying out the deception.

The incident has been reported to local authorities, and further investigation is underway. Police are working to trace the accused and recover the stolen jewellery.
