BICHOLIM: The Pilgao farmers who have been demanding compensation and re-employment to locals met Mayem and Bicholim MLAs Premendra Shet and Chandrakant Shetye with theiur request.
The farmers and locals met both the MLAs and told them that they had blocked the ore transportation by Vedanta Sesa Goa Company through Pilgao-Sarmanas for the last 11 days. They told local MLAs that they were firm on their demands and alleged that the mining company was moving back and forth while accepting their demands. The farmers requested them to first settle their demands.
Workers also met the MLAs and urged them to take initiative to resume ore transportation. After meeting both the groups, MLA Shetye said that they will engage with all stakeholders and come up with a solution by resolving all outstanding issues.
