Police Act invoked for budget session

In wake of the forthcoming Legislative Assembly session, Goa police have invoked Police Act, banning processions, demonstrations or holding public meetings for a period of 24 days starting from March 16 to April 8, 2011.
In an order issued on Thursday, North Goa Superintendent of Police Arvind Gawas said that processions, morcha, rally dharna, etc will not be allowed around the Assembly Complex at Porvorim within 500 meters.
The order is issued under section 30 (2) of the Police Act, 1861. The order will be in force from March 16 till the end of the Assembly session on April 8.
