Police arrest Navi Mumbai man in 75 lakh GST fraud case

Bicholim Police have arrested a Navi Mumbai resident for allegedly committing a GST fraud of ₹75 lakh by obtaining a bogus registration on the Central GST portal under the name Green Agro Industries in August 2021 using forged documents. According to the complaint filed by GST Officer Sophia Lawrence E. Vaz, the accused uploaded fake papers, including an electricity bill and consent letter, to show a false business address at Parye, Bicholim, and later defaulted on tax payments, causing a significant loss to the government. During the investigation, police identified the accused as Dinesh from Navi Mumbai. He was first produced before the Belapur court, which granted a two-day transit remand, and has now been remanded to four days of police custody as further investigation continues.
