the Mormugao DySP Suchita Desai has sought a detailed inquiry report on the incident from the Mormugao police.
According to information, a middle aged woman was found trapped between the rocks at Mormugao harbour in semi-nude condition at around 11.30 pm on Saturday. She was noticed by a person who was fishing in break waters, who raised an alarm. She was later rescued by the MPT fire department staff.
She was then taken in a 108 Ambulance, however, the ambulance staff instead of admitting her in a hospital dropped the woman at Vasco police station.
Similarly, even the Mormugao police acted in very casual manner and failed to conduct any inquiry as to why a south Indian woman was at break waters at so late hours, why she was in semi-nude condition and whether she was in distress and why she was dropped at railway station.
“It is serious case which was brought to my notice by some reporters and thus I have asked the Police Inspector of Mormugao police station to conduct a detailed inquiry and submit a report. I have also asked them to provide the status of woman whom the police dropped at Vasco railway station, instead of investigating the case,” she said.
