MARGAO: Activist Zarina Da Cunha has expressed disbelief over Quepem Police Inspector Pravin Gawas’s reluctance to apprehend the man who assaulted her mother and cousin even after two complaints and media reports. She also clarified that the accused Joseph Fernandes was not married to her sister, but was the father of her nephew’s wife.
Zarina had earlier lodged a complaint that her mother was kicked and slapped by Fernandes, who has several criminal cases against him. “Jose Fernandes has seriously assaulted my mother, who is a senior citizen, but Police Inspector Pravin Gawas did not act on the complaints filed in this regard,” said Zarina.
, adding, “The police’s reluctance to extend protection to senior citizen against serious crimes, like assault, and letting go history-sheeters like Jose Fernandes of Vasco, is to be condemned.”
