PORVORIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Monday assured the House to declare the policy to shift off shore casinos out of River Mandovi in a week. Parrikar was speaking on the floor of the House, replying to an accusation that successive BJP governments promised to shift the off shore casinos out of River Mandovi. “In next one week, we will declare the policy to shift the casinos out of River Mandovi,” the chief minister assured the House.
“We have already drafted the policy fixing the time frame to remove casinos from the River,” said Parrikar.
He said that the casinos would be shifted out of the River “within stipulated time frame.”
The chief minister recalled that it was a Congress party that brought in policy introducing off shore casinos in the State.
“Congress government then had given licences to the casinos in the River Mandovi,” he said.
